I
have had the privilege of treating a number of clients who have had major
reconstructive facial surgery. These
clients have all mentioned that the surgery performed on them has been
successful and they are grateful that they have been given their lives back,
but the appearance of post operative scarring has left them with some facial
disfigurement and discomfort, both physically and
emotionally.
Through working with these clients, I have
found that this treatment, combined with facial exercises, can assist people in
their recovery after facial surgery.It
has helped in restoring movement and flexibility back to areas of the face that
had previously been immobile, improving sensitivity and reducing the physical
appearance of scarring and adhesions.
One
particular client I have been treating, who had right side facial paralysis
following facial surgery, found the massage techniques have helped her by:
Breaking down
adhesions
Reducing
tightness and tension of facial muscles
Increasing
movement around the mouth
Improving
speech, drinking and eating (no more dribbling)
Experiencing
sensations in previously numb areas
Improvement
of eye drooping, giving clearer vision
As a result she
has renewed self confidence and now smiling in public
It
is for these reasons that I am keen to offer this therapy to others who have
had similar experiences.I can offer a
non-invasive alternative to assist in recovery after facial surgery both
physically and emotionally by helping to improve facial mobility and
flexibility and to reduce the physical appearance of scaring and
adhesions.At present, I believe there
is no aftercare offered to patients following facial surgery to address these
problems.
The
initial consultation and treatment for this therapy is free.A course of treatments would be recommended but
further treatments to be discussed at initial consultation.
